"When I see what is happening as part of the necessary process of change in Cuba, I think of my 10-year-old son Chris, who will be one of those who benefit from everything we do today," said translator Leyani Diaz, who lives in the central-southern region.

"I believe in this beautiful work that has been undertaken, in the historic generation of the Revolution, in their wise decisions; but also, I believe in us, those who are continuing their work," said fifth-year law student Yuliet Saez.

Self-employed worker Alberto Diaz said that efforts should proceed as oriented by the Communist Party, with wisdom and caution.

Havana resident Lester Cintas said there was no turning back, and that this was the ideal time for realistically analyzing any problem without being afraid to reveal errors.

Issues such as food, housing and transport must be improved, with the help of everyone from the individual citizen to the state, said 26-year-old Yasnay Socarras.

The measures taken are good ones, and the country is taking a good path, said Lazaro Huerta, who began selling refreshments a few weeks ago.
