Photo: Amauris Betancourt.The film Marina by Enrique Alvarez, which is set in the city of Gibara, in Holguin province, will be among the inspiration sources for the Cuban Film Industry that the current 2011 will produce more than 20 films, short movies, documentaries and animated series that will to be realized by the young as well as experienced filmmakers.

Sources of that institution announced in a press conference that among the new films is Sumbe by Eduardo Moya, La Piscina, the debut of Carlos Machado, and Verde, verde by Enrique Pineda Barnet.

Also included is Juan de los Muertos by Alejandro Brugues (Personal Belongings) a film of zombies, the first one of its kind.

The veteran Juan Carlos Tabio is back with the documentary Cimarron, based on the homonymous work of Cuban poet and writer Miguel Barnet, while Jorge Luis Sanchez presents Irremediablemente juntos, a theatrical adaptation of De la Havana a Pogolotti by Alexis Vazquez.

The children theather group La Colmenita will be on the screen with its first feature, Y Sin Embargo se Mueve, directed by Rudy Mora, with music by Silvio Rodriguez, who will have a brief appearance on the screen.

The animation studios have 10 new titles, including the film La Edad de Oro (The Golden Age), which will take several histories of the children´s magazine of the same name founded by writer and Cuban independence hero Jose Marti, by filmmakers Homero Montoya, Nelson Serrano, Jesus Rubio and Barbaro Joel Ortiz.

In adittion to those projects there are another 20 which include Vuelo Prohibido by Rigoberto Lopez (Roble de Olor), La Pelicula de Ana, by Daniel Díaz Torres and Esther, by Gerardo Chijona.
