Cuba to Receive Boxing Teams from Several Countries

07 de enero de 2011, 00:09Havana, Jan 7 (Prensa Latina) Boxers from several countries will have a training base in Cuba, as reported by Cuban website JIT Thursday. According to the schedule, the first teams to arrive will be the ones from Argentina, Australia and Hungary on January 10.
The Argentine team's coach is Cuban trainer Sarvelio Fuentes, and now they are returning to Cuba for a training session to improve the shape of the Argentine boxers for future competitions.
"When we came last year, the work done was very good. That was prime in our decision this year," Sarvelio Fuentes said.
Fuentes was the head coach of the best Argentine boxing team in the last 50 years, at the end of the 20th Century.
Hungary announced a team formed by light welter fighter Gyula Kate, who won bronze in the 2003 World Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, and in the 2009 World in Milan, Italy; the 69-kilogram fighter Balazs Bacszai and lightweight Miklos Varga.
Australia is coming back to Cuban soil after the participation of its boxing team in the 2010 Cordova Cardin Tournament and the Cuban Sport Olympiad.
Other nations, such as India, Egypt and the Dominican Republic, have manifested their intention to choose Cuba as a training base.
The teams of the three nations are scheduled to arrive in Cuba on January 14, 15 and 16, respectively.
The National Commission will organize working sessions with the Cuban senior and junior boxing teams, to take advantage of the presence of these foreign teams in Cuba.
The World Junior Championship will start on July 30 in Astana, Kazakhstan, and the Senior World competition will be held between September 22 and October 10 in Baku, Azerbaijan.sus/as/tac/jl/ycv
