Holguin Wrestling Teams to the National Championships. By Jose A. Chapman Perez/ [email protected] / Saturday, 08 January 2011 10:38. The banner ceremony posed challenges for the Holguin wrestling teams in the coming national championships.

The delegation to represent the Cuban province of Holguin in the National Wrestling Championships (classical and free style) was presented with a banner during a ceremony held at the Sport Provincial Museum.

Enrique Perez Salermo, a deputy director of the sport provincial board in Holguin, passed on the banner to national junior champion wrestler Aliony Romer Gonzalez.

The athletes’ oath was taken by Yunieski Blanco Mora, a Cuba draft member (free style) who also took part in the World Cup held in Iran last 2010.

The 74 kg weight athlete meant the team will "behave properly and will strive for victory always with the goal of achieving the best results ever for Holguin wrestling."

Manuel Zayas, sport officer from the Provincial Sports Board, urged the athletes to improve the results previously reached by this discipline.

Carlos Cruz Torres and Arnoldis Perez are to couch the free style teams for men and women, respectively, while Mauro Lobaina will couch the classical style squad.

The free style team is also committed to ratifying its fifth place in the last edition, while the classical squad would go for improving the tenth place reached last 2010.

The southeastern city of Santiago de Cuba will host the free style contest (10 -14 of January) and the participation of Catherine Videaux - fifth place in the World Cup in Moscow, rises much attention.

On the other hand, the classical wrestlers will be contending next January 20 - 23.
