Written by ACN. January 2011. HAVANA, Cuba.- The Master Plan for the Comprehensive Revitalization of Old Havana, attached to the Office of the City Historian, announced the 9th International Meeting on Management of Historic Centers.

The event, scheduled from May 17 to 20, will focus on the rescue and restoration of fortresses, headquarters, prisons, ancient monasteries, and port and industrial facilities for the development of socioeconomic programs in favor of the city.

At the meeting, the participants will also deal with the topic of the influence of the neighborhood leaders as promoters of socio-cultural projects.

It will include conferences by prestigious experts, discussion panels, as well as thematic workshops. On this occasion, the event has received support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), UNESCO, and other UN agencies.
 
Prior to the event, from May 9 to 16, a course will be given at the Office of the City Historian to present the whole revitalization of Old Havana.

All professionals linked to the project, the restoration and management of big emblematic buildings are invited to participate, as well as all actors who can make a presentation of their socio-cultural experiences on the neighborhoods.

The invitation is also extended to all those people closely linked to the integral development of historic centers, and to local government representatives.
