Culture week festival in Holguin City

By Lydia Esther Ochoa / [email protected] / Friday, 14 January 2011.The Culture Week Festival, that starts today in Holguin, has scheduled a packed agenda which includes the participation of local talent in the year’s cultural event that is dedicated to PhD Maria Dolores Ortiz, MSc. Angela Pena Obregon and to the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the El Alba plastic arts academy.
Cuban City of Holguin Marks 259 Anniversary
The intellectuals to take part in the event on Cuba’s wars for independence would place a wreath to honor local hero Calixto Garcia.
The Juries’ constitution is another event to take place today, who would decide on the winners of the Holguin City Prize in the different categories called, music, plastic arts, poetry, history, architecture, radio, television, print press, video and promotional communication.
Starting today, a cycle of lectures would begin on different themes like "The Chinese 2011 horoscope" and “Religiosity in Holguin," among others.
The program also includes the traditional opening parade, the presentation of the ‘Estilo Propio’ company that would premier the work “Tierra y Semilla” (Earth and Seed).
Other activities would come today as the presentation of the NBL orchestra whose concert tonight will close the opening day of the 29th edition of the Holguin Culture Week.
