Titled "Invisibles and outlaws: The Hollywood blacklist", the selection includes some 40 films, including cult movies such as Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon, starring Humphrey Bogart, who suffered firsthand the folly and viciousness of Senator Joseph McCarthy and the committee led by him.
During that period 60 years ago that was baptized in the United States itself as a witch-hunt, a large number of intellectuals and artists, especially in the field of cinema, were targeted for their political ideas and blacklisted and accused of being communists, which prevented them from working in Hollywood.
The season in the Infanta multiscreen movie complex until Feb. 2 brings together movies, the cast or production team of which were blacklisted in Hollywood.
The selected films include The Great Gatsby by Jack Clayton, Leaves of Grass by Tim Blake Nelson, with Susan Sarandon in the leading role; The Handover by Todd Phillips, Two Mules for Sister Sara by Don Siegel; Edge of the City by Martin Ritt; a Place in the Sun by George Stevens, and The Postman Always Rings Twice by Tay Garnett.rma/as/isa/ag.
