jueves, 20 de enero de 2011.Cienfuegos, Cuba, Jan. 20 (Prensa Latina) With a newly created program for the study of indigenous cultures of the Americas, Cuba's Casa de las Americas is contributing even more to safeguarding the legacy of those communities.

Cuban playwright Jaime Gomez Triana, director of the new program, reaffirmed that to Prensa Latina while attending reading sessions for the 52nd Casa de las Americas Literature Award in Cienfuegos, 250 kilometers southeast of Havana.

The new program adds to others sponsored by the cultural institution, focused on research in specific fields of the knowledge, such as Women (1994) and Latin Americans who live in the United States (2009).

The program will compile research begun the same year Casa de las Americas was founded (1959), with an opening that featured an exhibition of pre-Columbian ceramics and fabrics, Gomez Triana said.
