Cuba, Angola turn potential into cooperation programmes

Luanda – The Governments of Angola and Cuba have expressed availability to turn the economic, scientific and technical potential of the two countries into programmes of economic and entrepreneurship cooperation, with reciprocal advantages.
The decision is expressed in a final communiqué emerged from the five-day visit of the Angolan Vice President of Republic, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, focused on strengthening of friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries.
Pleased with the climate of understanding, the parts stressed the governments' reciprocal interest aimed at speeding up the bilateral cooperation and ensure the practical implementation of the signed juridical tools, said the note.
They also agreed on the need to strengthen the mechanisms leading to monitoring and bilateral assessment of cooperation relations, as well as expand it to the new fields of common interest.
The vice-presidents of Angola and Cuba, respectively, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos and José Ramón Machado Ventura, expressed interest in deepening ties of friendship and fraternity binding the two countries.
The Angolan deputy president reiterated his country's position to demand the end of economic, trade and financial embargo the United States imposed on Cuba.
Accompanied by the members of Executive, the Vice President of Republic delivered a message from the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, to the President of the State Council and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, Raul Castro Ruz.
The deputy President who held courtesy meeting with the Speaker of National Assembly of People's Power, Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, also visited various economic, scientific, cultural and social institutions.
