English.news.cn. 2011-01-25 11:23:37. HAVANA, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- More than 1,000 cigar lovers and experts have confirmed their attendance to the 13th Havana Cigar Festival, which will be held on Feb. 21-25, president of the organizing committee Oscar Basulto said on Monday.
The event, organized by Habanos S.A. and Tabacuba Business Group, is devoted to honor the famous cigar brands of the island "Montecristo," "Partagas" and "H. Upmann," said Basulto.
The festival includes the traditional activities such as visits to tobacco plantations and cigar factories, and tasting of cigars with beverages as rum, coffee, brandy and tequila, as well as trade fair and seminars.
There will be a gala dinner at the end of the festival to honor the Montecristo brand, during which "Cigar Man of the Year" will be chosen. Traditional auction of humidors - boxes of cigars to keep them fresh - will also be held.
Habanos S.A., founded in 1994, is a joint venture equally owned by the local Cubatabaco Co. and the Spanish Altadis.
