Cuban Wins 3rd Gold in Paralympic Track and Field Champs

26 de enero de 2011, 12:23Wellington, Jan 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Omara Durand on Wednesday won the 200-meter event in the T-13 category at the International Paralympic Committee's Athletics World Championship in Christchurch, New Zealand.
This is the first time that Durand, 19, has participated in an international event. Her time was 24.24 seconds, breaking the world record set by U.S. Marla Runyan in 1995 of 24.45 seconds.
Durand has the possibility of becoming a two-time champion in New Zealand when she competes in the 400-meter event on Saturday.
With Durand's medal, Cuba now has its third gold medal at this international sports event, after Yunidis Castillo won the 100 and 200 meter races in the T-46 category.Escrito por Dayami Interián García. mh/rab/dig/am
