The traditional March of the Torches with which Cuban students and the people in general annually honor national hero Jose Marti will take place Thursday night in Havana.

Cuban Hero Jose Marti Present in the Work of the Revolution

The march, a tribute by the Federation of University Students marking his 158th birth anniversary, will begin at the Havana University staircase and end at Fraternidad Park, with a concert by the band Buena Fe.

Youth nationwide will honor Jose Marti on Jan. 28 with different activities.

The first march of this kind to honor of one of the top Latin American revolutionary intellectuals and organizer of the last 19th century struggle for independence from Spain, was led by a group of young people on Jan. 27, 1953, the 100th anniversary of the Cuban hero's birth.
