Argentina Excels in Casa de las Americas Literature Contest

Havana, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) Argentina did great in the 52nd edition of the Casa de las Americas literature contest, with one prize and five mentions in the categories of testimony, short story, and artistic/literary essay.
Writer Carlos E. Bishoff won an award for his testimonial piece on the repression carried out by the military dictatorship in his country (1976-1983).
In addition, three Argentinens received mentions in the category of short story: Virginia G. Gallardo ("El porvenir"), Patricia Suarez ("Brindar con extraños"), and Norberto Mauricio Espinosa ("Pequeños milagros").
The jury did not award the top prize in the artistic/literary essay category, but it did grant four mentions, including two to Argentines Cecilia Lopez and Elsa Noya.
