HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 9 (acn) The Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Hamadoun Touré, condemned the US economic blockade imposed against Cuba and the violation of the Cuba’s radio-electric spectrum by the United States, Prensa Latina news agency
reports.

Toure, who is participating in the 14th International Convention and Fair on Informatics 2011 (Informatica 2011), affirmed that solving this issue is part of the working agenda of the organization.

He added that this is a political issue, and ITU has bee working on its solution.According to the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, Toure referred to the US economic blockade and said that it is about time to change this absurd policy because all nations should have the right to have access to new technologies and to create and share information.

The program of computerization of the Cuban education as a strategy to increase the quality of education, to facilitate access to scientific and technical information, and to boost automation in education, was presented during Wednesday’s session of Informatica 2011.

The Cuban vice minister of Education, Rolando Forneiro, talked about the advance of informatics in the National Education System. He noted that the national program of studies includes 578 hours for this subject.
