Camaguey, Cuba, 14 Feb.- A fruit processing plant will begin to work soon in Forestal - in the municipality of Santa Cruz del Sur-, where mango plantation, the biggest one of Cuba, has approximately 800 hectares.
According to Jose Molina Alvarez, of the Preserves and Vegetables Company, new industry will produce pulps destined to make fruit compotes for children, and prime matters to make other products.
This fruit processing plant in Camaguey province will allow a major fuel saving in transportation. Hitherto, high mango productions of Forestal must be moved, for the most part, to Ceballos, in Ciego de Avila, and to processing industries El Mambí, of Camaguey city, and Camalote, in Nuevitas.
Molina Alvarez added that quality of pulp will improve because the fresh fruits will be processed, without physical damages for the extensive transfer or for the excessive exhibition to the sun.
Mango plantations in Forest concentrate varieties of high quality and demand, for example SuperHayde and Corazon, ideals for its mass and delicate flavour for tourism consumption, exports and baby food processing. Radio Cadena Agramonte.
