Cuban Ambassador Meets with African Union Commissioners

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 5 (acn) Cuban ambassador to Ethiopia, Clara Pulido, met in Addis Ababa with commissioners of the African Union (AU), during which they analyzed possible fields of cooperation between that organization and the Caribbean island.
During her first meeting, the diplomat analyzed with Ugandan Tumusiime Rhoda Peace, AU Commissioner for Rural economy and Agriculture, cooperation potentials in the agricultural sector, the www.america.cubaminrex.cu Web site reported on Friday.
Pulido recalled the visit to Ethiopia of Cuban Jose Antonio Fraga, director of the Pharmaceutical Biological Laboratories (LABIOFAM), and made a presentation of that scientific institution to Rhoda Peace, who took an interest in the island’s advances in this sector.
She also spoke about Cuba’s development in the sphere of animal health and on possible cooperation in the future.
During her second meeting, Pulido spoke with Jean Pierre Ezin, AU Commissioner for Human Resources, Education, and Science and Technology, about the training of physicians, literacy, teaching, and the program to eliminate malaria, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.
The upcoming trip of Commissioner Ezin to the Caribbean island, aimed at revitalizing agreements between Cuba and the AU, was announced during the meeting, in which Claude Atignon, assistant to the commissioner, and Omar Leyva, second secretary of the Cuban mission in Addis Ababa, also participated.
