Representatives from about 25 countries will participate in the III Cuban Congress of Local Development, with venues in the eastern province of Granma, from March 9 to 11, organizers said.
The Vice rector for Research of the local university, Oscar Romero, announced the presence of teachers, students, scientists and entrepreneurs from Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Germany, among other nations.
Based at Sierra Maestra hotel in Bayamo, the event will include tours of historic and socioeconomic sites of the city, declared as National Monument for its historic values related to independence wars.
Quoted by the National Information Agency, Romero said that there will be visits to rural areas, where visitors will be able to appreciate the experiences and achievements of the local development strategy in Granma.
The University of Granma, he added, will present studies on cattle raising, intensive organic farms and orchards, and the inclusion of the family in food production, among other topics.
Also, the first International Cooperation Workshop for Local Development will be held, meeting that, in the opinion of school authorities, has great importance for the need to address the issue from a multilateral perspective.
