Minor Earthquake Rattles Santiago de Cuba

2011.03.09 - 13:23:23 /radiorebelde.Minor Earthquake Rattles Santiago de CubaHAVANA, CUBA.- A 3.5 earthquake was reported early this Wednesday in the Cuban eastern province of Santiago de Cuba by the Central Station of the Cuban National Seismologic Center.
The earthquake was detected at 6:05 a.m. local time and localized at 19.75 North latitude and 75.65 West longitude, 18.6 km south southwest of Playa Verraco, at a depth of 33.8 km.
According to several reports, the earthquake was felt across the whole city of Santiago de Cuba, in the municipality of Palma Soriano and along the coastline bordering the Baconao amusement park. No material damages have been reported.
This is the second earthquake that shakes the seismic prone area of Santiago de Cuba this year.
Specialists with the National Seismologic Research Center are processing the information related with the natural phenomena.ACN.
