Naples Daily News. March 14, 2011. Debi Wilkey. Bob Salterelli, Cuban Artist Eduardo Miguel Abela Torras, Joel Kessler, Dr. Carol Damian and Jack O'Brien officially open the Cuba on My Mind Exhibition.

The Naples Art Association at The von Liebig officially opened the Cuba on My Mind exhibition with title sponsor PNC Wealth Management on March 10, 2011. Members of the press and the Naples Art Association Board of Directors were invited for a first glimpse of the much anticipated “Cuba on My Mind” exhibition.

Eduardo Miguel Abela Torrás traveled from Havana with his wife to be a part of the ribbon cutting and public opening reception on Friday evening. Abela is a third generation painter, and work by his father and grandfather are also part of the exhibition. Dr. Carol Damian, co-curator of the exhibition and an authority on Latin American Art, was also present and delivered a lecture on Cuban Art following the ceremony.

Bob Salterelli, senior vice president and market executive of PNC Wealth Management in Naples joined Abela; Damian; Naples Art Association Executive Director, Joel Kessler; and curator, Jack O’Brien to officially cut the ribbon to open the exhibition. “PNC understands the valuable return that investing in the arts can deliver," said Saltarelli. "We're pleased to continue our long-term support of the Naples Art Association and the von Liebig Art Center as Presenting Sponsor of the ‘Cuba on My Mind’ exhibit, a wonderful demonstration of authentic Cuban art created by extremely talented artists.”

The exhibit features over 30 pieces of Cuban art including paintings, photography, and mixed media on loan from the artists as well as from private collections. Select works are available for purchase. The exhibition will be on display March 12 – April 30 at The von Liebig Art Center located at 585 Park Street just off 5th Avenue South in downtown Naples. A donation of $5 is requested for admission to the gallery.

In addition to the title sponsor, PNC Wealth Management, supporting and media sponsors include Physicians Regional Healthcare System, Naples Daily News, D’Latinos, Life in Naples, Happenings Art and Entertainment Magazine, WAVV, NBC-2, Comcast and the Collier County Tourist Development Council.
