Cuba Passes G77 Presidency on to Lesotho in Geneva

2011.03.18/ radiorebelde.Havana, Cuba.- Cuba passed the presidency of the Group of 77 and China on to Lesotho after a year of fruitful work as leader of the coalition, as recognized be member counties attending the ceremony in Geneva.
The transfer of power ceremony took place in the Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland, in the presence of UNCTAD director general Supachai Panitchpakdi, and the executive director of South Center, Martin Khor, Prensa Latina reported
When assessing G77’s management and future projects, the Cuban ambassador Rodolfo Reyes thanked the positive comments regarding the Cuban efforts as president of the group made by representatives from several countries.
Representatives of China, Venezuela, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Yemen, South Africa, Indonesia, Cameroon, Morocco, Irak, Bangladesh, Madagascar, Zambia, Mali, Tunisia and Angola congratulated Cuba, as well as those of Nepal, Paraguay, Ghana, El Salvador and Thailand.
When transferring the power on to Lesotho’s ambassador Anthony Mothae, Reyes said G77 and China will be coordinating their stances for the Fourth Conference on Least Developed Countries, the 13th UNCTAD Ministerial Meeting, the Third South Summit and the 2012 Earth Summit.(ACN)
