Indonesia Invites Cuba Cigar Industry Develop

Countries in Latin America intend to enhance bilateral relations with Indonesia. One of Cuba, which offers joint development of the cigar industry in Indonesia.
It is made by the Cuban Ambassador to Indonesia Anna Valdez in pertamuan ‘The 4th Forum For East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) Outreach Program’, in Ball Room Hotel Gran Senyiur, Jl ARS Mohammad No. 07, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Friday (03/18/2011).
Anna said the two countries Indonesia and Cuba, the potential has a very good relationship and can be improved since the time of President Sukarno, who was known quite friendly with Cuban President Fidel Castro.
“Geographically, Cuba is in the Caribbean region. If there is good cooperation between the two countries, distance no problem,” said Anna Valdez.
“Not to mention talking havana cigars that have been popular in many countries. Indonesian cigar industry could develop in order to participate is known world,” explained Anna.
She further said his country continues to improve the legal basis to ensure the comfort of investments from various countries. This can be learned by Indonesia participated.
“Cuba is developing economic efficiency. The future of Cuba depends on economic cooperation friendly countries,” added Anna.

During the meeting, nine of the 34 countries members of the Forum For East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), expressed its seriousness to enhance bilateral cooperation with Indonesia, through FEALAC fourth meeting held in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, 18-19 March 2011.
The nine countries are Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, Singaura, Thailand, Vietnam, and Venezuela. Ambassadors and representatives of each country presents its potential as a bid prefix cooperation plan.
The meeting itself is the fourth time the theme topic “Promoting Trade, Tourism, And Investment Relations Between East Kalimantan Province and FEALAC Member Countries’ or the Promotion of Trade, Tourism, and Investment Cooperation Relations between East Kalimantan province with Member States FEALAC.
Ecuador’s Ambassador Eduardo Calderon, also expressed his country possessed its own advantages. Through the relationship between Indonesia and Ecuador are going pretty well in the last 3 years, Eduardo expect to continue to be improved.
“Ecuador, famous for its bananas. In the future we want to explore further cooperation on the management of banana because of construction land in East Kalimantan which is good enough to plant bananas,” said Eduardo.
While the expert staff of the Governor of East Kalimantan Sulaiman Gafur on the sidelines of the meeting, said Latin American countries, is currently seeing Asia to increase cooperation, especially in East Kalimantan.
“As the development of SMEs, education, agriculture, commerce. Latin America is committed to increase cooperation of course with business interests,” said Solomon.

FEALAC, established since 2001 and now consists of 34 countries (16 from East Asian countries, 18 from Latin America), among others, Indonesia, Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, and New Zealand.
