Gino DePinto, AOL. Deriving their name from Charles Bukowski's oeuvre, Hank and Cupcakes are an Israeli pop group to be reckoned with. Having lived in Havana, Cuba for six months to study music before relocating to Brooklyn, the band has slowly made their mark in the States.
"Our live set is compiled of just bass and drums, and I'm the drummer and singer and I stand while I play the drums and Hank plays bass, but with 10 million effects," singer Cupcakes, aka Sagit Shir, tells Spinner. "It's like pop music but it's very edgy and very, very high energy onstage and we really kind of go crazy when we play ... It's like our therapy sessions when we get on stage."
Hank and Cupcakes hope to release their debut full-length within the coming year.
