By: Raquel Maria Garcia Alvarez.United Nations, Apr 6 (Prensa Latina) Former US President William Clinton highlighted on Wednesday the importance of Cuban collaboration with Haiti, a country devastated by a quake in January 2010.

The recognition was conveyed to Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez by President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos during a session of the UN Security Council devoted to Haitian reconstruction.

Clinton entrusted me with expressing his appreciation to Cuba for its work in Haiti, said Santos after the Cuban top diplomat concluded his speech before the Security Council session.

The former US president, who attended the first part of the session, is also the UN special envoy to Haiti.

The cooperation program launched by Cuba in Haiti has currently 1,117 health workers, including 923 Cubans and 201 from other countries, graduated in Cuba, including Haitian youngsters.
