Festival of Celt Music and Traditions Underway in Havana

2011.04.16 - 10:23:55 /radiorebelde.icrt.cu.HAVANA, Cuba.- The Second Annual Festival of Celt Music and Traditions began on Friday in Havana and will run through April 24th with the participation of artists from Ireland, Canada and the Spanish regions of Galicia and Asturias.
The event is sponsored by the Havana City Historian’s Office and the Canadian-Irish CeltFest Society. Its program includes concerts, workshops and exhibitions, as well as parades and performances by dancers and bagpipers in plazas and streets of Old Havana.
The list of artists invited to participate includes bagpipers Gay McKeon, from Ireland, and Manuel Ada, from Galicia, as well as Canadian violinist Roy Johnstone, and the group Resurrectio, from Asturias.
The Plaza de Armas and the Plaza of Saint Francis of Assisi, as well as the Guayasamin, Benito Juarez, Victor Hugo and Simon Bolivar museums, all in Old Havana, are some of the venues of the festival.
The Second Annual Festival of Celt Music and Traditions will conclude on April 25th in the westernmost province of Pinar del Rio with a gala at the Jose Jacinto Milanes Theater.(ACN)
