Forestry Congress Opens in Cuba

By:Ileana Ferrer Fonte. Havana, Apr 27 (Prensa Latina) The 5th Cuban Congress on Forestry begins Wednesday at the Havana International Conference Center, with more than 300 experts from 21 countries in Latin and North America, Europe and Africa.
The event, which runs until April 29, takes place in the context of the celebration of the International Year of Forests.
The agenda includes lectures, round tables and presentations for exchanging experiences on efforts to achieve sustainable forest development, ensure food security and protect the environment.
Topics include sustainable forestry, goods and services of forestry, wood technology and forest products, agroforestry, climate change, forest protection and wildlife, analog forestry, and wood security.
Coffee and cacao are included for the first time on the agenda of the meeting, organized by the Agroforestry Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The 5th International Meeting of Young Researchers and the 6th International Symposium on Agroforestry Systems are being held in parallel with this congress.
About 13 Cuban and foreign companies will also present their products and services at a trade fair, at the same conference center.
