Jamaica Observer. Friday, April 29, 2011. THE Jamaica/Cuba Eye Care Programme will be conducting screening sessions in the parishes of Kingston and St Andrew and St Ann during the month of May. Screening sessions will begin at 8:30 am each day.

Persons will be screened for the following pathologies only: cataracts, pterygium and diabetic retinopathy.

The Ministry of Health said in a statement today that assistance will not be available for conditions other than those listed above or for children.

Persons seeking to be screened must present a valid identification or a passport size photograph and tax registration number (TRN).

The ministry added that it will notify the public of any other upcoming screening sessions across the island.

Screening will be provided at the following health facilities and dates:

    *

      National Chest Hospital, St Andrew (all Fridays in May);

    *

      Ocho Rios Health Centre, St Ann (Monday, May 16);

    *

      Alexandria Health Centre, St Ann (Tuesday, May 17);

    *

      Claremont Health Centre (Wednesday, May 18);

    *

      Brown’s Town Health Centre (Thursday, May 19); and

    *

      St Ann’s Bay Health Centre (Friday, May 20).
