10:32Havana, May 2 (Prensa Latina) A Mexican Navy school ship, the ARM Cuauhtemoc BE-01, arrived in Cuba on Monday as a part of its 2011 Mediterranean Training Cruise.

The ship will dock in 17 harbors in 12 countries, and came to Havana from Acapulco, Mexico, for a weeklong visit.

Previously, the ship was in Balboa, Panama, and later it will anchor in the United States, Italy, Israel, Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Greece, Spain and Colombia.

At the entrance of Havana bay, Cubans gathered on the emblematic Malecon seawall to welcome the ship, and it was received by a 21-gun salute from the La Cabaña Fortress, which dates back to Spanish colonial times. At the La Marina international dock, Mexican Ambassador Gabriel Jimenez Remus welcomed the crew led by ship's Captain Marco Antonio Vila.

Previously, the ARM Cuauhtemoc visited Cuba in November 1994, and in April 2008, officials said.
