Goal is 'the reflection of first-hand, authentic news'. An Iranian functionary and a Cuban communications official met Monday in Havana to discuss "bilateral media cooperation, particularly in the reflection of first-hand, authentic news," the Iranian news agency IRNA announced.
Ramin Mehmanparast, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, and Daniel Sergio López, identified as "the head of Cuban radio-TV networks," explored "the ever-increasing importance of public diplomacy in foreign policy, particularly the role of the audiovisual media in that respect," said a press release from IRNA.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting service (IRIB) is ready "to boost cooperation with the Cuban radio-TV networks," Mehmanparast is quoted as saying.
López welcomed the offer and proposed that Venezuelan-based Telesur and the Teheran-based Press TV network join forces to "present an authentic image of the events and developments in these two regions effectively."
