Honduran Resistance Leader Visits Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, May 3 (acn) The general deputy coordinator of the National Front for Popular Resistance in Honduras (FNRP), Juan Barahona, met in Havana with a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (CC PCC), Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera.
According to Granma newspaper, Barahona is heading a delegation that visits Cuba in response to an invitation made by the PCC.
Both leaders talked about the current international situation, and specially about the situation in Honduras, which is in the midst of negotiations after two years from the military coup d’état that removed former president Manuel Zelaya from power.
Balaguer reaffirmed the solidarity of the Cuban people with the struggle of that Central American nation, and wished Barahona success in the ongoing process so as to meet the FNRP goals and to bring some stability to that country.
The member of the Secretariat of the CC PCC mentioned the results of the Sixth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, which concluded recently, and referred to the preparations for the National Conference.
Barahona expressed his gratitude with Cuba for the solidarity of its people. The deputy director of the Department of International Relations, Jorge Arias Diaz, and other officials from the CC PCC also took part in the meeting.
The Honduran delegation, which participated in the May Day Parade and in the International Trade Union Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, was made up by Gilberto Rios, Francisco Rios and Sonia Banegas, also leaders of the FNRP, among others.
