HAVANA, Cuba.- The president of the Cuban Parliament Ricardo Alarcon is leading the delegation from his country to the 12th Cuba-Mexico Inter-parliamentary Meeting that started this Friday in Yucatan.
Alarcon said relations between his country and Mexico are good, but noted that being Mexico one of Cuba’s closest neighbors, the island is looking to have a more active participation in its market, Prensa Latina reported.
Mexico’s president of the Chamber of Deputies Jorge Carlos Ramirez, leading the delegation from his country to the meeting, advocated the strengthening of relations of friendship and cooperation between both nations.
The 12th Cuba-Mexico Inter-parliamentary Meeting will discuss actions to promote solidarity and cooperation in the fields of culture, education, health, civil protection, tourism and immigration. It will also tackle the climate change and natural disasters in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, boosting economic relations between the two countries and the analysis of a pacific solution for regional conflicts.
In March, Ramirez visited Cuba at the invitation of the Parliament. During his stay in the island, the Mexican official coordinated the agenda and program for the meeting. (ACN)
