Last updated: 5/23/2011 11:00. Vietnam’s chess ace Le Quang Liem had to settle for second spot at the 46th Capablanca Chess Memorial in Havana Monday after losing to defending champ Vassily Ivanchuk of Ukraine in the final round.

Liem was leading the tournament before the final round and would have won the championship if he had managed a draw with Ivanchuk.

However, Liem had a bit of a disadvantage in the final round, playing with black pieces.
