Cuba, Vietnam Discuss Cooperation in Rice Production

By: Ruth.12:33Havana, May 31 (Prensa Latina) Cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam in rice growing will be one of the topics of an international forum to be held here June 6-11.
According to the president of the organizing committee, Telce Gonzalez, 70 percent of the delegates to the forum will be rice growers.
Gonzalez, who is also general director of the Grain Research Institute, said the 5th International Rice Conference and the 1st Grain Symposium will be attended by experts from Brazil, China, Colombia, Spain, and Mexico, among other nations.
Apart from cooperation with Vietnam, the results of a joint project with Japan also will be be analyzed.
The use of irrigation techniques, chiefly electric machinery, and a workshop on pesticides, are on the agenda, along with the presentation of over 100 papers and a number of lectures.
Both forums, to be held at the Havana Conference Center, are sponsored by five Cuban and seven foreign institutions.
