Italy Interested in Collaborating with Cuban Province

2011.06.06 - 12:59:42 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. CamagueyCAMAGUEY, CUBA.- Italian ambassador to Cuba Marco Baccin visited the province of Camaguey to explore ways to collaborate in the preservation of the historical center of the city, among other projects.
Baccin told ACN in Camaguey, around 500 km east Havana, that his country is also interested in increasing the presence of Italian art in this Cuban city and announced the intention of donating small garbage trucks to the city.
The diplomat met with the vice president of the Provincial Asembly of the People’s Power (local government), Isabel Gonzalez, and the head of Camaguey’s Historian Office Jose Rodriguez to discuss ways to consolidate the projects.
During the visit, Baccin visited the historical section of the city, which was recently declared UNESCO’s World Heritage Site; and attended a concert by Adalberto Alvarez y su Son, one of the best Son bands of the country, at the Principal Theater.
Baccin also met with Italian descendants living in Camaguey at the Cultural Diversity Center.
