2011.06.14 - 16:41:28 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. HAVANA, CUBA.-  The ongoing world economic crisis and its characteristics will in the limelight of debates at the opening session of the 7th International Meeting on Accounting, Auditing and Finances running in Havana until Thursday.

Professor and researcher Jose Luis Rodriguez Garcia of the World Economy Research Center will give a keynote address about the topic before more than 500 specialists from 25 nations attending the event at Havana’s Convention Center.

Professor of the University of Havana Hugo Pons Duarte will speak about public administration as a development instrument; while Director of Accounting Policies of the Minister of Finances and Prices Jose Carlos del Toro will make a presentation about the Cuban challenges in adjusting its accounting norms to international standards.

At the same time, the First International Meeting on Public Administration for Development will take place in Havana.

The events start Tuesday afternoon and the welcoming speech will be delivered by the Vice President of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba, Lydia Esther Rodriguez Gonzalez. 

According to the Organizing Committee, out of 63 presentations submitted to the Scientific Committee, 25 are by foreign economists most of them coming from Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.   

The debates in the five commissions into which participants have been divided will focus on accounting, costs and education, internal control and auditing, business finances, bank and management technologies, public administration and international finances.

The 7th meeting is attended by representatives of the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and the World and Pan-American health organizations.
