With a masterly coupling of voices by the undeniable devotion of musician and dancers, the Cuban company Yoruba Andabo brought again France the spirit of rumba.
"We always go on stage to give the best of ourselves, and putting our country in a higher place is our constant slogan", Geovany del Pino director and singer of the group told Prensa Latina.
With themes such as Abakua, Don Belen and Habana, singers, percussionists and dancers showed their mastery making the public vibrate to the constant beat between an ancient world and a contemporary ambiance.
A few years after testing fusion with rock in Norway with excellent results, this time the group fused the rumba with Iranian music offered at the close of the performance with a unique version of Guantanamera.
A very daring project not by the cultures but because melodies are on very different clefs, but it worked and we hope to continue with this in the future, said the company´s director.
Del Pino also explained that prior to the presentation in this capital they participated in the International Festival of Bergen, Norway, as part of an European tour sponsored by the Topoly chain of restaurants, their main sponsor together with the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
A very up beat public accepted our rumba, our music like in the group´s first visit, he added.
Among future plans of the group are recording a disk that gives name to the promotion of the current performance, "The spirit of rumba".
They also expect to make another DVD with which they equalize the one nominated for a Grammy and awarded a prize by the Spanish Academy of Music.
