Tourism Growing in Cuba

By: Heidy Morin. 08:45Havana, Jun 22 (Prensa Latina) The National Statistics Office (NSO) reported that the number of tourists visiting Cuba in May amounted to 11.3 percent so far in 2011.
The latest newsletter of the NSO indicates that the increase of visitors in the period was 137, 930 from Canada, Europe and other regions.
The agency said that only in May 183, 791 tourists came, representing a 7.2 percent increase over the same month of 2010.
Sources from the NSO indicates that Cuba receives around 2,500,000 foreign visitors a year, and expects to reach 2, 700,000 in 2011.
As major emitter countries are Canada, Russia, Argentina, UK, Chile and France.
On purpose of this goal, tourism sector has as priorities the revival of facilities and the development of tourism products, in keeping with the preservation of the environment.
