Argentinean companies agree to sell rice

Cooperativa Puerto Valle and Unidad Operativa de Producción, both from the Argentinean province of Corrientes, signed a letter of intent with state food importer Alimport for the sale of 100,000 tons of processed rice, the El Litoral newspaper reported.

A first delivery of 25,000 tons is planned for September.

Over the past few years, Cuba has been buying rice mostly in Vietnam, mostly thanks to generous credit conditions.

Before visiting Cuba, the delegation from Corrientes attended the Rice Trade Americas 2011 conference in Panama.
