Miguel Barnet Granted Mihai Eminescu International Poetry Award

Bucarest.- Cuban poet, novelist and ethnologist Miguel Barnet was granted the Mihai Eminescu International Poetry Award, which is the highest distinction granted in Rumania in this field, for his contribution to contemporary literature and the promotion of human values.

At a ceremony attended by prestigious Rumanian intellectuals and Cuban Ambassador to Rumania Marta Fajardo, Barnet expressed his gratitude for this distinction named after one of the most important romantic poets of the 19th century in Europe.

At a request of the Eminescu Academy, Barnet was also given the Honoris Causa degree of the Constantin Brancusi University.
