Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Archbishop Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies in Cuba for the years 2011-2016, the Rev. Castor Jose Alvarez Devesa, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Camaguey on May 27, 2011.

The new National Director was baptized on August 29, 1971 and was ordained a priest on September 29, 2001. He then held the following positions: Member of the youth ministry (2002-2004) and Responsible for the diocesan missions since 2006, Assistant pastor in Florida; a volunteer Missionary for a year in the Diocese of Ciego de Avila (Cuba); Assistant priest at Guaimaro; and Pastor in Florida.
