2011.07.12 - 19:04:32 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. HAVANA, Cuba.- Scientists from Spain, Italy, Germany and the United States spoke up for boosting professional cooperation with Cuba, during the Eighth Seminar on Advanced Molecular Design and Bio informatics Studies, underway in Havana.

German Mario Brabatti of the Max-Planck Chemical Research Institute (Institut für Kohlenforschung) extolled Cuba’s scientific progress and emphasized the importance of the international encounter in establishing contact with scientists from different nations.

Bradatti said to ACN that the possibility of exchanging with personalities in the sector is a unique opportunity for the training of young researchers.

The president of the event’s organizing committee, Luis Alberto Montero Cabrera, said an important number of top-level scientists from different countries attended the seminar and regretted that the American government didn’t allow more than 80 percent of figures from that country to travel to Cuba for the Seminar.

Perla Wahnon Barranoch, professor of the Polytechnic University of Madrid lauded the work carried out by Cuban experts in joint projects between Cuban institutions and different research centers and laboratories from Spain. She said the work led by researchers from the island is very professional, despite the lack of materials.

Promoted by the faculty of Chemistry of the University of Havana, the seminar will run until July 15 with more than 100 researchers in attendance. It includes lectures, poster exhibitions and debate sessions.
