2011.07.22 - 12:53:05 /radiorebelde.icrt.cu. HAVANA, CUBA.-  Roman Martin, a student at the Maximo Gomez Pre-University Institute of Exact Sciences in the Cuban province of Camagüey, won a bronze medal during the 43rd International Chemistry Olympiad held on July 9-18 in Ankara, Turkey.

Martin said the medal was the result of hours of intense preparation and study, and the guidance of his teachers, trainers and family.

“We know the sacrifices the country does to guarantee our participation in these high-level events. That’s why we try to give our best in every competition,” he added.

Some 270 competitors from 74 participated in the international event in the Turkish capital.

Cuba has been participating in the International Chemistry Olympiads since 1971. Ever since, Cuban representatives have obtained more than 400 medals and 50 honorable mentions.ACN.
