In a press conference on Wednesday, Mireya Luis, the Beach Volleyball coordinator of the Cuban Volleyball Federation, announced that the event had initially been scheduled to begin on August 22 but it had to be postponed.

Luis added that 64 teams from 16 countries will be competing. The nations represented will be Canada, the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, Jamaica, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Belize, Cayman Islands, Saint Kitts & Nevis, and Cuba.

She explained that this competition grants points for the world ranking and the players’ classification for the Olympic, Pan American, and Central American and Caribbean Games.(ACN)
