Tampa International Airport to host Cuba Travel Forum

By TED JACKOVICS | The Tampa Tribune. Published: August 24, 2011.TAMPA. Tampa International Airport will host a Cuba Travel Forum at 6 p.m., Sept. 6 at the Cuban Club in Ybor City to celebrate the reconnection of Tampa and Havana with charter flights.

The event will link the three approved carriers and 12 travel service providers with those interested in visiting Cuba under current U.S. travel restrictions.

Xael Charters, Inc. of Miami has scheduled its inaugural Sept. 8; ABC Charters, Inc. of Miami will begin Sept. 10, and Island Travel and & Tours Ltd., a San Diego firm with plans to establish a local base here, has said it expects to start service in September.

Similar to other inaugural flight activities, the airport will coordinate a celebration of the first flights at the gate with refreshments, decorations, music, and the traditional "Shower of Affection" water arch provided by the TPA Fire Department. [email protected] (813) 259-7817
