2011.09.10 - 15:00:15 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. Havana, Cuba.- U.S musicians members of the ‘Horns to Havana’ project, offered a concert on Friday at the National Theater in the Cuban capital, where they shared the stage with young Cuban talents.

The visitors, from the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra and other jazz bands, dedicated the night repertoire to this music style born in the streets of New Orleans.

‘Horns to Havana’ took the stage with bassist Carlos Henriquez, saxophonist Victor Goins, Erica von Kleist (sax and flute), Ali Jackson (drums), Vincent Garchner (trombone), Robert Rodriguez (piano), and Michael Rodriguez (trumpet).

They played musical arrangements by members of the band and by great composers such as Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie.

Cuba was represented in the stage by trumpet players Yassek Manzano, Carli Rodriguez and Jesus Ricardo, saxophonists Michel Herrera and Ernesto Vega, and pianist Alejandro Falcon.

Thus, after almost a week of intense work in Havana, the visitors concluded their program in Cuba, which included workshops, lectures, and performances.

They also donated instruments for four jazz bands valued at nearly 70,000 dollars, sources from the Cuban Music Institute said.(ACN)
