By: Ruth. Havana, Sep 20 (Prensa Latina) Border authorities in the eastern province of Camaguey reported the discovery of about 691.5 kilograms of marihuana and 4.6 kilograms of hash oil in drops along the coast this year to date.
Factors affecting the discovery of these drops include frustrated trafficking operations, the weather and ocean currents, Cayo Cruz Border Post second chief Captain Janno Almenares stated.
The Cayo Cruz border post guards a 54-kilometer (33 miles) area, including Megano Chico (west), Cayo Montañes (east) and the inner cays, he said.
Camaguey is one of the provinces where it is most complext to fight international drug trafficking, due to its complicated system of small islands and cay.
Its borders are defended by the Border Patrol Detachment in Nuevita, the administrative capital of Camaguey, a unit with a strong military force in both coasts.
