By: Heidy Morin Rueda. San Jose, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) Workers of the National Association of Electricity and Telecommunications of Costa Rica (ANTTEC) called on a strike to oppose to the privatization of the national energy sector.

"We call on the strike to say NO to the privatization of Energy, but also to protest against the dismantling of the Telecommunications Sector," says the call.

The text states that in the discussions of the Free Trade Agreement with the United States, the energy sector was considered untouchable, but the voracity of that agreement now calls for the opening of this important activity. According to the Internal Front of Workers of Costa Rican Electricity Institute (FIT-ICE), the protesters will ask the Legislative Assembly to stop the discussion of the various bills on energy.

The national strike is a total and outright rejection to the various initiatives on electricity that discusses the Legislative Assembly, said Fabio Chavez, coordinator of the FIT-ICE.

The strike, called for next Monday, will start at seven o'clock in the building La Sabana, in San Jose.
