Cuba going ahead in World Boxing Semifinals

Baku, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) Three Cuban fighters ensured their bronze medals in their respective categories.Cuba classified three fighters for the semifinals of the World Boxing Championship, thanks to the victories of bantamweight Lazaro Alvarez, lightweight Yasniel Toledo and light heavyweight Julio Cesar La Cruz.
Alvarez beat US fighter Joseph Diaz 19-10, Toledo got the victory over South Korean Soon Chul Han 15-10 and La Cruz beat Australian Damien Duncan Hopper 14-13.
These three Cuban fighters ensured their bronze medals in their respective categories.
Another three Cuban fighters, Yosvany Veitia (49 kg), Jose Angel Larduet (over 100 kg) and Erislandy Savon (81 kg) lost their matches and were out of the semifinals.
Veitia lost by RSC against Serdamba Purevdorj (Mongolia), Larduet was defeated by Azeri Teymur Mammadov and Savon lost against Azeri Magomedrasul Majidov by RSC.
Another two Latin American fighters, Brazilian Everton Lopes (64 kg) and Esquiva Falcao (75) won their respective matches.
Lopes won over Hungarian Gyula Kate 20-8 and Falcao to Danabek Suzhanov (Kazakhstan) 13-10.
