The Chinese authorities receive Cuba's scientific adviser

Liu Yandong, Minister of State highlighted the excellent development of relations between China and Cuba, including cooperation in the scientific-technical area, receiving the Scientific Advisory Council of State in the Caribbean country, Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart.
He also underscored that this visit takes place in a year when there have been events and commemorations of special importance for both nations.
The talks were part of a program of meetings with key Chinese officials and tours of institutions that the Cuban delegation met here prior to their transfer to other provinces with the same purpose.
On occasion, both sides acknowledged the steady progress of these links, with emphasis on collaboration in areas such as science, technology and education, Prensa Latina said sources close to the talks.
Also evoked moments of relations between China and Cuba, including high-level visits and meetings between the Chairmen and other leaders.
The Scientific Advisory Council of State in the Caribbean country previously met the Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang and Vice President of the National Development and Reform Commission, Zhang Xiaoqiang.
He was received well by Professor Zhou Ji, president of the China Academy of Engineering, the host institution of the Cuban delegation.
The program included tours of the Corporation, China Aerospace Science and Technology, the Academy of Space Technology, the Institute of Energy Conversion, Guangzhou, and Huawei Corporation.
According to sources, in these discussions and visits, which was also attended by Ambassador Alberto Blanco, the parties discussed issues of bilateral relations and scientific-technical cooperation, especially in the field of nanotechnology and other priority sectors.
Besides Guangdong, the advisor of the State Council of Cuba has run scientific institutions in the cities of Shenzhen and Suzhou, Yichang, and the largest project engineering work world, the Three Gorges Dam, with a view to enlargement the ties of cooperation.
