Marie Curie Skłodowska Salomea (Poland, 1867-France, 1934), winner of two Nobel Prizes, one in physics and a chemistry will be remembered in Havana for his great contributions to science and technology. It was the first recipient of the famous laurel besides being the first woman to teach at the University of Paris.

The centenary of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry delivered to the researcher, a pioneer in the field of radioactivity will be remembered with an exhibition that opens on Tuesday November 15th, at three o'clock, in the Victor Hugo House's Office City Historian.

After the opening of the exhibition, courtesy of the French diplomatic representation in Cuba will be made on theoretical panel "Life and work of Marie Curie", composed by Professor José Altshuler, president of the Cuban Society of History of Science and Technology, and other members of that organization.

Located on O'Reilly Street no. 311, Victor Hugo House has become bridge of friendship between the peoples of France and Cuba and is the venue for meetings, exhibitions and conferences. The building, which in turn develops an interesting cultural program, has a library, conference rooms, classrooms dedicated to teaching the French language and area projections.

Marie Curie The exhibition joins the celebrations for the 492 anniversary of the jumping town of San Cristobal de La Habana, an event celebrated with numerous events for all institutions in the Historic Center of Havana. The guests will have their moment in the traditional ceremony, which starts this November 15, the eve of the founding date.

Contributors to the Office of the Historian of the City, residents of the community and visitors will gather at six pm in the old Palace of the Captains General, now the Museum of the City, from where the pilgrimage to the Shrine and under a legendary tree, the Historian, Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, a few words to Havana, and the city will be honored with one of his most deeply rooted traditions: The Return of the ceiba.
