The month of September next year is the date set for holding the Second International Congress organized by the Pharmaceutical Laboratories (Labiofam). Its director, Joseph A. Fraga, reported that this event will present the latest research and innovative products for the Group.

The topics for discussion related to animal health outcomes (all vaccines for disease control) in foods such as yogurt, vector control and biofertilizers.

The latter is a new line Labiofam incorporated in research work, according to the needs of the country, according to Fraga.

The bulk of vaccines and veterinary drugs used today in this island, is domestically produced from research conducted by the center, the source said.

36 currently running research projects, four of them related to research on cancer therapies based on the properties of the venom of a scorpion endemic in the island.

Fraga said the achievements of the institution allowed to put on sale the homeopathic medicine "Vidatox" which serves as a complementary therapy for the treatment of symptoms caused by the effects of cancer and relieves pain.

The institution, the official said, has signed contracts with several countries, and letters of intent for the supply of the product, including one signed with Hungary in the recent edition of the International Fair of Havana.

A higher phase of research carried out in this field will be one of the innovations presented at the conference, according to organizers.

The First Congress was held in 2010 and was attended by over 300 specialists, many of them foreigners.
